Watching the Sun
by Phil Pogledich
Finally going back through some additional poppy shots from earlier this spring. This one always caught my eye a bit so I thought I'd post it for comment. In case you're wondering, this is not an attempt to get creative with the crop . . . it's how I shot it with just a bit off the top. I like the hint of detail along the tops of the petals in the lower third of the frame and, of course, the light and color. Please let me know if it works for you.
Canon 5D, Tamron 90mm at f/5.6 for 1/160 second (ISO 200).

Tim: I'm glad I made it look (or sound) effortless, and I'll take that as a compliment. To tell you the truth, you're not all that far off as far as this particular shot goes. But I've certainly endured a few discomforts on other days for the sake of this hobby!
Bob: I debated trying to tweak that upper corner before posting; perhaps I'll give it a shot since it struck you as a bit of a distraction too.
Kathy: Still waiting? That's a pretty good example of the climactic differences between California and Michigan, I suppose. The poppies here are nearly "popped out", having been around since early March.
