Yellow Lady Slipper...

I've been after these in the wild for years...but they are endangered in the state, and though I've located a stand, I've never caught them in bloom. I was fortunate to find out though that a local wildflower garden has the native variety in their collection, and I ran out this morning to catch them.

I found these tough to shoot, as they tend to be closely packed in colonies. This was my best attempt...comments and critiques appreciated...

Beautiful shot Jim. I have yet to see these in the wild... need another NENP trip! :toast:

Jim: Pretty darn good attempt IMO. I've never seen one of these in the wild either so your image is a real treat. Nicely done.>=))>

Looks good to me Jim. I like the comp and the light. Subject/ground separation is also very good. I'd love to see one of these at some point.

Nice find and great job composing this. We found some of these in the wild last year for the first time, and found it difficult to get a good composition. Nicely done.

Jim, extremely well captured. These are tough to shoot, but this is an excellent comp. I've been visiting several stands of these this spring. I've taken some shots, though none as nice as this. Well done!

Jim, These can be tough to shoot. We are a few in bloom at the local gardens but not quite easy, at least for me.

This is one of the best I have seen of a Lady's Slipper :toast:

Jim, a fine job with a tough subject. You are oh so correct on the colonies. I have stumbled upon them a few times in the Northwoods of Minnesota. I could never get the isolation and comp that you've accomplished here. Nice work!

One of my favorite flowers. Mine are not yet blooming. You have done an excellent job of capturing its beauty.

That's a unique and well done environmental portrait. I would clone out the brightest blue spot at the top leaf as it pulls my eye somewhat.

Very nice Jim... The tiny blue towards the ULC is a bit distracting though

Beautiful capture Jim. I am glad that your persistence was rewarded with this excellent capture. The lighting is perfect. I might retouch the purple spot bg, ulc, but maybe not! Not a biggy as I can see it either way. :toast:
