Unless there's great golden hour light or it's sprint bloom, I usually see the Sonoran desert in B&W. For me, it better captures the essence of the harsh desert landscape. C&C appreciated.

I love this in B&W. It captures the Sonoran desert perfectly.

Very cool scene well captured.
However, the b&w conversion just doesn't have enough tonality differences to be successful, IMO. I would advise that you keep working with the SilverEfex to achieve more contrast at least.

The cactus is wonderful. I love that it is alone, with the sprinkling of mostly saguaro behind. BW works well for me, although I love BW thunderclouds and pine for a bit of cloud in the ulc.

Agree with John here - the first thing I noticed is that the entire scene is just too gray. Some re-working of the b&w could really improve this I think...

John and Dan: Good feedback. See the re-post - I've reworked the contrast in Silver Efex and I think it's definitely better. Thanks.

The repost is a huge improvement. Looks really good. I was going to make similar suggestions, but you are way ahead of me.

Barry,

Excellent job presenting the desert in b&w. Processing is excellent and I think the repost really nails it (although I didn't have any suggestions viewing the original.) Crisp, clean and simply a well composed and conceived Sonoran landscape. Well done.
