Brown Pelican in Edwards Bay, Cocoa Beach, Florida

I love watching these guys take off and land. They are so big, yet so graceful. I know I should have captured the tips of his wings in the frame, but I don't feel that it takes too much away from the image. Please tell me what you think about that and any other aspect. Thanks for looking!

Michele - the sidelight caught just enough of the top of the head and the eye for this to work I think, though personally I do wish for more detail on some of the shadows. I like the flying water drops and the wing position. As you mentioned, it would have been better to not have cut off the wings though.

Lovely light on the bird Michele which has really brought out the feather detail. I think the tight crop works well although I suppose a full wing composition would have been slightly better. Graham

Michelle, I find that when you have clipped wings it is best to crop them a bit tighter so they look intentionally cropped and not clipped. Very nice sharp details.

I like the lighting and the gold reflection band in the upper right that complements the colors in the Pelican. More room for the wing tips and below the bird would have helped I think.
