Hana, Maui, Hawaii, April 2010. Hana is probably one of the most relaxing places I have ever visited. The local people there are so laid back it is almost ridiculous!

Nikon D80, 12-24 Dx Nikkor
1/3 sec at f/22, ISO 100, polarizer, 3 stop soft GND, hand blended with 3.0 sec at f/22, ISO 100 to get more detail in the foreground rock.

Comments/critiques are always appreciated.

Nice colours and very interesting rock in the foreground.

I really like the sun caught up in the clouds, and the peeking sun with light reflecting down to the rock is a neat effect. Did you play with a square crop at all? That might emphasize the awesome central region even more.

Wow this is an amazing shot. Love the sunstar and the crepuscular rays.

I to really like how the sun star turned out. All those streaks of light. The suns reflection is an integral part of the image leading the eye right to the shoreline rock. Beautiful.

A beautiful shot with lots of depth. Perfect shutter speed on the foreground water, nice sun star, nice god rays below the sun, great sun and sky reflection, and interesting clouds -- this shot has a LOT going for it!

I do think the main foreground rock looks a tad too light. The rock in the very lower-left is more realisting looking, at least to my eye.

Thanks to everyone for the comments.

John - I played around with the square crop, but couldn't get it to work. I want the sun to be in the center and when I did this with the square it cut off the right side of the foreground rock. Thanks for the suggestion, since this is something I hadn't thought about until you mentioned it.

I've reposted the photo since I noticed my blending got messed up when I did the lens correction. I also darkened the foreground rock just a bit.

Excellent comp and very well-handled light. Sounds like you found a small slice of paradise.
