That's pretty cool . I didn't catch it at first, until I re-read the title and looked a bit closer. I'm not sure about the amount of empty space; this would have been a good photo for a telephoto. (I'm one to talk, as I would have only had a wider angle to use myself.)

That cloud is pretty cool with some nice color and I like the gradient. Is that the crescent moon in the upper right quadrant?

Thanks John and Jeff. Yes, that is the crescent moon up there, which is why I used my wide angle lens. But the moon is not very bright because of the sunlight. Still, I like the expanse of darkness above the "fish." But I'll try cropping this into a horizontal shot just to see.

Okay, here's a square crop. I think I like it!

Here's a horizontal crop. I think this is my least favorite.

Great eye and title, Michele. I like both versions.

Michele,
I'm a bit late here, but I try and make sure I welcome new folks to NPN and the ES&S Gallery. I see that you've already been posting some fine images in Avian, but I believe this is your first post here? Well regardless, welcome aboard.
Personally, I like the finally cropped horizontal is showcasing the "Angelfish" cloud is what you wanted to capture and show. However, I think your original capture is a little bit more out of the norm in terms of all the negative space. "Negative" in that's what the terminology is for all that empty space, but not negative like it's a bad thing. I think the gradient to pitch black works pretty well here and the cloud makes for a nice accent. The presence of the moon doesn't pull me one way or another considering it's tiny size.
Thanks for sharing and welcome.
