Still working on the flying images, so I figured maybe I should stick to the ground. Just a nice Jay from a couple days ago... there was a woodcock, RWBBs, jays, grackles, mourning doves and a couple other varieties all in about 5 minutes time.

D-60 ISO-200, 1/250th, f-5.6 and 200mm. Cropped heavily, so it got a bit OOF. Thanks for any C&C!

Bill,
very nice angle, pose and background. If this were mine, I'd add more room on the left and take off on the right. I'd try also to give more sharpening to the bird. :wavey:

Thanks Monica, yes, the room on the left is naturally better!! :frown: Don't ask me what I was thinking--and I believe I lightened the oringal post a bit too much. Here's a redo...

Hi Bill,
re-post looks better, but I would say that pumping up the contrast versus toning the brightness probably would have been better. It's hard to tell without see the histogram, but it didn't look too bright in the original post. You could be getting the blur from your shutter speed. I usually try to work in ISO 400 to keep my shutter up higher to prevent motin blur. That might help. Keep it up.

Thanks Brian, I will keep that in mind and test it with my camera to see if I notice a good difference.

Hi Bill,

The re-post is much better. You need to get closer for really great results. Try working from a blind, I think you will enjoy the process and the results.
