Jungle

I have previously entered this shot in a weekly challenge, but I think that being probably my best nature photograph ever, it also belongs here (in a slightly reworked version).

It shows the jungle in Kaeng Krachan National Park, Thailand, shortly after sunset. It was an amazing sight, with forest extending to the horizon, unbroken by signs of human activities - something I've never seen in Europe.

I don't know Basil, I think your "Sea of Fog I" image in your portfolio is pretty awesome. This is certainly a grand view and a nice image, but for me I think the haze is right on the border of being able to pick up some color from the sky, or just not enough so it just looks hazy. I think the composition is nice with the narrow format and you did a good job of filling the frame and including just the right amount of sky. Also, the layering is nice with all the mountain ridges.

Thanks for sharing in the gallery.

Hi Lon

Thanks for commenting. I agree with your feelings about "Sea of Fog". I like it a lot too. However, I'm feeling much more emotionally involved with the shot posted here. Maybe because of the experience associated with taking it, but possibly also because I see a strong conservation message in it (while "Sea of Fog" was taken a 10 minutes drive away from home  ). I guess it's time to take a step back and look exclusively what the viewer will see, without my own personal bias.

Thanks again for your comment!
