When I was an oil painter, Violet Parkhurst was one of my favorite artists. I liked her vibrant Sunset Seascapes. This image taken at Royal Palms Palos Verdes Penisula I believe captures some of that special tapestry. Taken and edited long before I joined in 2009. I reworked the image, cropping a little, opening up the foreground shadows all techniques I learned in response to feedback from my peers on NPN. Thanks to Jim and Donna ( and all the NPN staff past and present) for this amazing resource. Olympus E-500 Sunset settings ( prior to learning how to manually set camera )

The sky is outstanding here, Paul. The larger version does share more detail in the FG shadow area too. Nicely seen and captured.

Beautiful work Paul. I don't think I remember seeing this. The crimson ans yellow glow is magnificent!

Thanks for the comments.

Eva I have posted a shot from this evening but it was a vertical and I was positioned more to the right. My vantage point was on a gigantic rock that can only be reached easily at low tide. The neat thing about this spot is you can drive right down to the beach. Sometimes it's crowed but I just work around the people.
