Well done, Sandy. I can't really see the detail in this image, but the comp, WB and color are spot on.

Interesting composition on this Bullock's Oriole. I'd like to see more detail in the cheek and other yellow plumage - can you get more with an exposure reduction in raw conversion?

Super comp of this Bullock's, Sandy, but I agree with the others that a bit more detail in the bird, especially the face, would make it better still. Maybe using the Shadow/Highlights tool on Yellow? Or Richard's idea of trying to recover detail on the conversion from RAW?

I think the comp is over the top great! Agree that a little more detail in the bird would be a plus.

This is very nice Sandy! That fanned out palm leaf creates a perfect compositional balance. Excellent work. :toast:

Sandy! This is just a super comp. Great timing on your shutter release. Looks a little noisy to me... what's with that on a D300s??

Just perfect, Sandy! I like the position of the bird, and the radiating fronds of the plant to the right. :toast:

Great comp and a great looking bird Sandy. I agree with others about the lack of detail in the orange areas of the face and the whites on the shoulder. A larger version would really help to decern what could be done to get some of the detail back. I have found that most of the time reducing the exposure in the RAW converter is the best way to recover highlight areas.

Unusual Sandy and really neat. I like the precarious perch and the way the oriole has grasped some of the palm leaves and pulled them together. I'd do my tweaking in RAW also, to recover some of the highlight details. I hate to be a stick in the mud but there's a broad halo around the entire bird and perch.

This is great Sandy! I see those Orioles at Baylands annually and I've yet to get a shot even close to this one.

Hi, Greg - I'm pretty sure the orioles have a nest in that big fan palm (above) that is to the immediate right of that Egret we saw by the duck Pond. They should be going in and out of the tree with things to feed the chicks soon.
Any baby stilts hatched yet?
