I was trying to get a image of these great little gulls flying head on, not an easy thing to do I sat for hours on St Abbs Head in the Scottish Borders trying to get it right. Tis is one of the pictures

Canon 7D canon 300mm f2.8 lens, f2.8, 1/2000sec, ISO 320

Comments very welcome

Ron, your patience paid off! Great angle, and cool BG that accentuates the bird.

Nicely composed and handled. I like the bird and its angle of flight. There seems to be a bit of noise in the BG.

Why F/2.8? It seems to me you could have stopped down a bit and still been able to freeze motion.

Nice flight position and blurred background suggesting the nesting cliffs. There's quite a bit of jpeg artifacts from the compression of the large image down to just over 200Kb.

Beautiful, Ron. I really like the angle of the gull and the bg is fantastic. This has a very neat mood to it that I like a lot. :toast:

Very nice, moody shot. I know how hard these buoyant fliers are; well done. Did you forget to adjust the size of the 1200px shot to 500KB? Looks to be seriously compressed, with attendant JPEG artifacts.

Ron, I see alot of noise in this image as well at 320, I'm surprised. Was it under exposed at all?or a very large crop?. The angle of the birds pose is great as id the shrp face

Outstanding flight shot! My only nit is the noise in the BG. Your patience paid off big time!
