Inspiration

Nature is an inspiration as well as the fine folks at NPN. This image is a tribute to "TK", which has been a big inspiration to my photography. Incorporating our own style is crucial these days but with talented artists here its a joy to share their passions. I have always been attracted to patterns, designs and the more intimate faces of nature. I could probably list pages of names from photographers here that are always inspiring to me. I thought this sandstone image was suiting in a valid credit to Tony Kuyper for all his help. His actions, disclosure methods, and images will always be an integral part of my workflow.

A tough composition for me though. A shot almost straight up a sandstone wall. I fought flare with my hat and struggled keeping the cheap barrel from veering from my chosen comp. Holding the barrel with one hand and positioning my hat from filtered light who was going to trip the shutter. Ahhh thanks wife.

Thanks again for your time and comments

Thanks, Anthony. However, you always bring your own light to your images, and this is no exception. While I think you have an excellent eye for composition, part of making good pictures anymore is knowing how to develop the image from the RAW file. That takes a special eye too, and you definitely got it.

Ahhhhhh! Beautiful capture Anthony..... So much to look at here with wonderful luminosity and color. Call me crazy, but I see faces...... a bear, a seal..... almost dead center. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Tony,
I completely agree and processing is a huge part of the development. I struggled early on (still do most times) as I worked on the raw files. I still have a ways to go in learning and tweaking my style but I do appreciate the encouragement. Its nice to have tools at your disposal and people to share new ideas with. Im not sure what percent is associated with capture and post-capture. Seems like its more of a 50/50 mix. I do enjoy the process from setting out onto the trail to developing in the digital darkroom. Thanks again for the help

Dittos to TK. Awesome shapes to this sandstone wall. Beautiful warm colors and defined textures. It raises ones curiosity and leaves a lot to the imagination. Nice work.

Such an array of shapes and texture to study here. Definitely got the "glow" happening. I appreciate the intimate details in a landscape and like to make that kind of image, myself. This is good, Anthony.

And so many of us have good reason to thank TK for his generosity and expertise!

Sweet photo Anthony. I really like the composition and you did a great job with the "make it glow" action. Well done!

I have to agree that this one is composed very skillfully, Anthony. It doesn't always have to be great vistas to make an image shine. Nature has its surprises at any kind of magnifications.

Outstanding image Anthony. The warm tones, the forms and textures of the rock, and your superb composition, all work tremendously well. Phenomenal work. A fitting tribute to Tony K. Agree with you wholeheartedly about his artistry and willingness to share his techniques. I certainly have benefitted greatly.

Very interesting light and intimate composition. I can see the "TK inspiration" here applied beautifully to your own environment.

Your work makes for high praise for TK, which he deserves. There's no one less selfish than him on this forum. I just wish I knew enough to use his genius. Care to come to Colorado for a little one on one time, TK?
Love the colors and forms in this one, Anthony. Very nice work.
