This was shot this morning at Ft DeSoto . It was very early morning with low light so my speed was down a bit. It was ok till he started to shake it up. When I pulled up the images I was happy to see a somewhat sharp face and eye yet the awesome twirly blur of the wings . It looks like a head from another bird but I assure you it is not. I have another similar with a sharper head but something about the body on this was better to me. Thanks for looking

Beautiful Shot! I love the body language on the bird. Composition and depth of field lend well to this shot. :toast:

I like the twirly whirly wings, makes for a unique photo imho. This species looks a bit goofy to me at the best of times, looks like he's wearing his black rubber boots for tromping around at the beach, but forgot his hat at home. So the wings, well they just work... :toast:

quite a shot, Cheryl. I like how swirly his wings look--not sure exactly what he's doing there.

Very nice shaking, Cheryl. I like how you managed to capture the head perfectly sharp with the body movement. Well done!! :toast:

That's pretty cool, Cheryl! Amazing the the YCNC held its head so steady with all that motion going on.

Nicely caught Cheryl. I think I'd lighten this and add a touch more contrast. Lovely shot :toast:

Twirly wings: different! That together with the isolated head effect sure makes this an unusual shot, Cheryl. Like Nick, I would suggest that it be lightened up a bit. Very interesting image. :toast:

As soon as I saw the image I knew that "twirly-whirly" would be part of my comment - knowing that no one else would come up with such a term. I was surprised (and a bit put out) that Gary beat me to it. I can see why you like this Cheryl - so do I, though a little better light would have been nice too. Fun shot!
