Elakala Falls

One of the Elakala Falls on Shays Run in Blackwater Falls State Park, WV from this past weekend. When I came across this falls, I instantly recognized it from a photograph taken this past winter by Joe Rossbach when the landscape was covered in fresh snow. The scene this weekend was just as nice with the surrounding green of spring.

Beautiful shot Mike. Very clean and well organized. The falls have a nice silky smooth look. Nice work.

A very fine waterfall shot Mike. There are a few areas of blown highlights in the water that might be worth working on processing-wise. The greens and yellows look a little 'off' also, particularly the moss. A very good-looking shot still.

I love how all these gorge/waterfall images pop up right now. This is another wonderful one, which could be taken here in Austria as well. The composition is excellent. Technically Kah already mentioned that the highlights are a bit of an issue. Not too distracting here but the bigger you go the more they will bother you. I ALWAYS take an extra "highlight shot" in cases like this. This always leaves you the option to get back some details if you need them. I'm on an uncalibrated monitor at the moment, but the greens of the moss look fine to me. Overall the shot feels a little warm, but that's a matter of taste. I just like them a little more on the cooler side to emphasize the color contrast between warm and cool tones. Enjoy spring!

Very well presented, the exposure is spot on, colors are great.

Such a soothing image here, wow spring comes quick in WV!

Personally, I would love to see this shot from a little lower and with that forward cascade more in the fg, and rotated a little to the right to see the greater width of the upper falls. Those rocks may be in issue in viewshed, but maybe not. Otherwise, you've done well here with the balance and the leading lines into the upper falls.

These are some beautiful waterfalls. There was something about it that I wanted, but wasn't sure what it was. Then, I think Christopher nailed it--I kind of wanted it slightly up and to the right.

I really like this, Mike. The blurry water contrasts well with the sharpness of the rocks and leaves, and the well-balanced light makes it very easy to look at and enjoy.
