This is a work truly inspired by NPN. First, I hadn't really photographed birds much at all, so the very fact that I figured out where to find a heron rookery was due to the amazing photographs I see in the Avian gallery. Second, I was a slide shooter for many years and the idea of doing any post-exposure manipulation/modification was pretty unimaginable. However, I found the Photo Art gallery very interesting and began playing with some of my own images. And this is one improbable result that I rather like. Long live NPN.

Very nice Pete. I know very little about Photo Art, but this is very nicely done.

VERY cool! The colors and silhouette are perfect, and the moon backdrop excellent.

And this is the story for most of us...ME, for sure.. great inspiration, starting to try new things after seeing what others came up with, and growing and improving every time we pick up a camera, and then even more after we post and get useful C and C's.

Pete,

Japanese art is what came to my mind; an ink drawing on rice paper.. the land of the rising sun... all of that. Very creative and a great success.

This is very well done. I like how the heron is not quite a perfect silhouette - there is some detail on the head and light seems to shine through its tail feathers. Simple, elegant, and quite effective.

Pete, I found this to be striking when you first posted it and I still find it compelling enough to look, again and again! :toast:
