Late Winter Coyote
by Lon Sharp
One of my favorite fauna images is of this coyote from last year. I watched for the joy of watching as he hunted the edge of a prairie dog town, well beyond the effective reach of my lens. I moved and watched some more then moved again for a better vantage. He noted my presence and continued with his business.
Then, apparently convinced I was not a threat, the travel line of his hunt brought him closer and closer and I began clicking the shutter like a wild man! He gave me enough opportunities to fine tune the exposure I needed, then he obliged me by coming to quite close range. He stopped, looking back...and offered this pose.

Beautiful portrait. The catch light makes this complete as the focus on the eye is so important. No doubt this was a great time to experience.
From you namesake... :-)
