Where the Wild Things RARR

A storm cloud begins to cover the beautiful colors of higher altitude clouds as the sun begins to rise, and the water continues it's never ending battle with the shore and rocks upon it.

Taken facing south during sunrise on a Kauai beach.

Single exposure, Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III, f/18 @ 16 mm (16-35), .9GND soft Lee, 3.2s, ISO 100, CS4 and Lightroom to add that extra thump.

Thanks for looking.

Beautiful scene with lovely skies.
Given the direction of the sunrise, is this Waipouli ?
The lens distortion (bowing horizon is killing it for me)
Easily fixed in the DPP lens correction tab.

Ahhh crap...I totally missed that on this one. I usually correct this in photoshop when I fix chromatic aberration. Thanks for pointing it out. I'll fix it.

Ok, fixed within less than a degree or so. The waves really play with your eyes, but it's much straighter now. Thanks for the catch and critique.

And Matt, yes, that would be the beach. ;]

Gorgeous! Love the subdued colors here. The centralized comp isnt traditional, but it works fine here with the radial lines. Very nice.
I wish i could use lens correction on my latest post--but it warps the shot too much--theres gotta be a better way....

Very nice - I like how the color of the sand and the sky complement each other, and excellent water action.

Typically I prefer more contrast, but the low key approach works well here. But yeah, the horizon could be fixed...

The horizon has been fixed. The waves give it a slightly leaning to the right appearance. The distortion is also corrected.
