Through a Looking Glass

Thanks to Bill Chambers for reminding us to post on this gallery. I have others that I'll put up later but this ranks as my number one favorite NPN shot. Chosen as the 2006 Photo Art Editor's Pick, I almost fell out when I got the notice. This was taken about 50 feet from my front door. During one of my routine early morning patrols of our garden I saw this web with the rather scruffy milkweed flower in the BG. Distance between the web and flower was much too great to catch with a single shot. It was also just a little breezy and if you've ever shot a web with any kind of zephyr you know what a focusing nightmare it can be. I took three shots - one on the web, one on the flower and one in between for a color wash. It was one of my first attempts at blending images as well so I broke into all kinds of uncharted territory. It obviously turned out pretty well and gets lots of comments at my office and at home. >=))>

Bill, your adventure in to the blends made for an amazing image overall. As all the components were in-line it made for a excellent juxtaposition.

Seeing it, and coming up with the technique for the first time - That's the ticket. An imaginative and fine piece of work.
