I am not a sunset-sun rise chaser, though I try my hardest to drag myself out of the tent when I can. This is another recent photo from my upcoming book on Chugach State Park, taken in February. When I was laying in my bag debating on getting up, I kept remembering all these great sunrise-sunset images I had seen on NPN and said "Just Do It You Whimp!" Glad I did.

Sony A850
Zeiss 24-70 @ 24
2 Stop Grad
1 second f16

Happy 10th NPN :toast:

This inspires me to rise earlier and photograph in cold conditions.

Bill,
Its a great combo, not the lightest, the Zeiss is a beast but one of the best zooms I have used. I had to lighten up my backpacking gear in order to be able to haul it along. I am still a little dissapointed with the 850's high ISO performance, luckily, a rarely go over 400.

I'm glad you got up too! This is very nice - the cracks in the ice/snow really make a nice lead-in, and beautiful colors.

Carl

I'm an early riser, so sunrises are par for the course for me. But sleeping in a tent and then getting out of the sleeping bag in frozen ice country - that would be the feat for me.

This is a marvelous fire and ice picture.

A spectacular sunrise scene and very nicely composed and captured, Carl! The leading edge of ice really makes the photo. Very nice!

I like the leading lines of the 'cracked' ice, an outstanding image with excellent impact Carl.
