Three wooden poles, probably the remains of an old wharf, emerging from the still waters of the Etang de Vaccares, the largest lake in Camargue, France.
The ethereal effect comes from a very long exposure - about 4 minutes - combined with the rain: the long exposure has made the water perfectly smooth and moved the clouds in the sky, whilst the rain provided a sort of natural flou filter to the entire image.

This is a picture I took exactly 1 year ago and it represents quite an achievement for me in terms of pre-visualization, effectiveness and simplicity. All skills that I doubtlessly highly improved thanks to my membership here and the priceless support received by all NPNers.

Wow, I love the simple, surreal nature of this image. I love the solid posts, they anchor the viewer in the ethereal soup. Very cool image.

The simple shots are the most beautiful quite often, and sometimes not so simple to attain. This is so well thought out and so striking - the large version is captivating!

Paolo, this is truly an amazing surreal scene. The ethereal effect you mentioned works perfectly in support of these isolated pier pilings. Must be a really neat print too.

Serene and "other-worldly". I'd possibly move the posts off-center.

Makes me think of the light at the end of the tunnel - the entrance to the heavens. A visually stunning photo.
