Welcome to the Jungle

Here is one of my more successful captures in Big Cypress National Preserve. These are large pond apples and the foreground is gator tail drags and heron foot prints. This was the peak of dry season in 08 and in the wet season, the water comes up to where the branches diverge. A wonderful time out, and one of my personal favorite images.

What a great tree find Paul! I can see why this is one of your favorites. The tail drags add a great element to this, as does the strong comp. I'm usually not a bif fan of toned images as so many of them are overdone, but this is darn near perfect IMO. Wonderful image and processing.

I love this one too, Paul, wonderful light and the B&W + toning is just about perfect for this scene.

This is really wonderful Paul, it looks like a scene from lord of the rings or something. The B&W conversion and toning help enhance the mood further.

Nice work, Paul. Your fine descriptive comment really adds to story here too. It's witnessing these small items of detail first hand that makes photographing in the outdoors so great.

Paul, I've really enjoyed so many of your photos, this one included. But I would have to say that your Elephantscape is my absolute favorite from your collection. I look forward to seeing more images in the years to come and one of these days I'm going to take one of your Everglade workshops!

OK out with the truth now Paul. Those trails are just you dragging your tripod around aren't they ?
I like the wild tropical jungle look to this very much. Great selection for this gallery.

I love swamps. I haven't been able to see very many pictures, though, and when I have seen, I haven't been able to capture it in the camera. This inspires me. Thanks.
