Smoke on the water

by Paolo De Faveri

Gallery: LandscapePosted April 1, 2010466 views8 comments
Another find in my archives.
I took this picture last year at the beginning of May, on a rather overcast and dull afternoon. This is probably the only moment in the entire day when the clouds lifted a bit unveiling the opposite shore of the lake. This is the lake of Ceresole in the Gran Paradiso national park, Italy.

Details: Eos 50D, Tokina ATX-Pro 12-24 and - most likely - a GND 4x or even 8x.

Your c&c are as always highly appreciated, thanks in advance for your time.

A slightly larger image is also available

I like it Paolo, it's moody and calm. A perfect introspective day.

That''s quite an interesting composition Paolo. I like this single line of grass that leads me in. An interesting bg too. And general I like the dark and gloomy feeling this conveys.

I like the line that drives the eye to the mountain.

Great mood.

Congrats

I like the even light on the foreground grass & stone and how it contrasts with the gloomy clouds and shadowed mountain in the distance. Nicely done.

The line of clouds in front of the mountain sets the mood so well. I'm not a huge fan of the centered comp of the foreground, but it is a unique composition and adds a bit more dynamic feel because of it

Love the play between the beautifully colored foreground and the cloudy gray mountain.

but no fire in the sky
Pretty cool, Paolo! Some nice atmosphere and a pretty scene. I might have gone for a diaganol with the plants, rather than the sharp 50/50 split down the middle. good stuff!
