My son brought his pet home frome college over spring break and let her out to play. We had a good time playing and getting a few shots in.

D90, Micro 105mm, f/8, 1/60 sec., ISO 200, -1.0 EV, tripod w/ fill flash from 45 degrees.

That tongue is really a shocking blue and you did well to capture it extended. A little more dof, or perhaps a faster shutter speed would have helped to capture that tongue even sharper at the tip. This kind of magnification is obviously tricky, but a more even toned/colored background would lend more impact to the skink. Good job with the flash and fine eye contact. ( p.s. Nice of your son to bring home a "skink" on his college spring break...)

Great that you captured him with its tongue extended Walt. You handled the difficult lighting situation very well by adding just enough fill flash. Gary covered the nits.

Given his name and the unusual nature of the tongue, I would wish the entire tongue were in focus. I like the detail you achieved, even in the shadow side of the face...the fill flash feels very natural.
