Stayin' Dry

Harbor Seal pup trying to stay dry. I've seen photos from past years of this same rock (the longest one in the area) and there were up to 15 seals piled on it. I feel very fortunate that there was 1 so I could focus my attention on it and have clean compositions. Sometimes less is more.

Cropped to 72%, seal was selectively sharpened

Hi, Luke.
I like the pose of the pup and how the water overflowes the rock.

Like the comp and the low angle. I also like the look he is giving you out of the corner of his eye.

I think I like this one the best in your series of seals and rocks. Looks like he is enjoying the warm rays of the sun, the water rushing off the rock is clean and crisp. Well balance comp.

Looks like he is not gonna stay dry for too long on that rock! I like the way the seal is pulling up its body to stay dry and particularly the way the water flows down from the rock. the light is very pleasing as well. All in all a very nice seal image Luke and I agree with you that sometimes less is more; it makes it easier to execute the concept 'isolate and simplify'.
