The book says it is very common in west Texas, but this was the first I have photographed.

Nice image Jack, I think you've done a great job with the BG as it really sets off the wonderful colors in the Finch. I have one minor concern with the lower left hand corner-perhaps more of the branch?

Nice head turn and good detail in the face and beak, Jack. I see some noise, but not bad considering that iso. You probably could have gone lower. I often shoot finches with a shutter speed around 1/100. Some are blurred, but a fair percentage work out.

Very nice pose, perch and background, Jack. I really like the natural colors too.

A nice looking shot of this colorful little guy. I like the head turned pose and the good feather detail.

Jack:
The smaller version doesn't do justice to the detail and color in the larger version. I like the gray BG for the finch. Very nice first capture of the species!
