Not much more I could do with toning down that rock.

IMHO no need to tone down the rock. Classic pose for this jay. Thanks for sharing, I like the detail in the plumage. The OOF plant coming from the beak is alittle distracting, but only a bit.

Dan, I think the jay looks very good and the background works just fine for me. As you mention, the brightness of the rock isn't ideal but it's still an image I like very much. There does seem to be a bit of a narrow sharpening halo around the bird.

Wonderful pose up on that rock. I see a slight halo, also. The colors in the bg and bird are wonderful. Sharon

Beautiful, Dan. The rock is a problem, but I don't find it too distracting, particularly in the larger version. Wonderful detail in the bird and I like the bg a lot. :toast:

Very nice shot. I really like the multiple shades of blue in the bird. The BG sets the bird off very well and I think the rock makes an interesting perch.

Excellent detail in the bird here Dan, you could try selectively sharpening the bird as opposed to the whole image and that might get rid of the halo. :toast:
