Here's a common open-country Australian bird: Crested Pigeon photographed on New South Wales south coast.

Canon 7D, EF70-200 f/4IS + 1.4 tc @ 223mm, handheld, ISO200, f/5.6, 1/250, full-frame. I desaturated the kangaroo-grazed grass a little, and toned down a couple bright areas in the background.

Nicely coloured individual Simon. Like the low perspective and interesting, yet non-distracting foreground and background.

Wow, if our pigeons looked like that I would spend some time shooting them too. This is a great looking bird. The bird looks nice and sharp and the colors in the feathers are very nice. What really catches my eye is the bird's eye. Really stunning. Well done.

Fine work on this pigeon, love that crest and the beautiful view of the eye. An appealing image, and one that evokes nice memories for me.
