Eternally Tranquil

This is another image from last spring. The morning was very peaceful...absolutely no wind. Actually, I think it was the calmest moment I've ever experienced in the Gorge. And one of the most beautiful, for sure!

I'm on the fence about this one. First, I'm not sure if the crop works, as it doesn't fit the typical aspect ratios. Second, is there enough mid-ground to show the leading of the balsamroot to the base of the tree? Lastly, there's more sky than would fit the "thirds" rule.

Any feedback you can give me would be great! Thanks!

I really like this, how can you go wrong with those completely still, blooming flowers, those gorgeous clouds and that tree is quite interesting. The middle ground is fine, and it's not a "rule of thirds" it's a "suggestion of thirds". The narrow crop looks a little strange, but no big deal.

Wow if this were mine I wouldn't be on the fence! I enjoy every aspect from beautiful foreground flowers to beautiful sky. I have also always liked a vertical panoramic format although we don't see them too often. I think this is as good as it gets!

Wonderful work Cory, very sharp, and colors are very accurate IMO.

Very nice image! I really like the lines from the hills and valleys in the background. I wouldn't change a thing on the composition...I'm a big fan of sky, so I wouldn't touch that.

Excellent! Gorgeous colors here. This crop works for me but I could imagine a 2x3 working as well if there aren't any distracting elements outside the frame here. The amount of sky doesn't bother me in the least - especially with those clouds & colors

Gorgeous colors and I love everything in this from top to bottom. I'm not used to seeing dimensions such as this, but given the subject like how its presented that way.

Very nice indeed, no fence sitting from me  I also like the vertical pano format.

Great shot Cory. At first I thought it might be a Marc shot.

Wow! Excellent processing on this one, very impressive. Who cares about the rule of thirds? If it works, it works, and this works. You could consider cropping slightly from the sky to return to a normal aspect ratio.

I wouldnt crop a thing - it may need a specially cut matting, but worth framing!

Beautiful scene. Looks very peaceful. Those are really nice clouds. Comp is great, proportionally all works very well for me. I the like symmetry between the FG flowers and the tree. If you don't like such a narrow crop I think this would work fine with quite a bit cropped from the bottom, but looks good as presented. The sky is a bit magenta for my taste but that's just me.

The composition does feel a bit tall and narrow to me, but I suspect it's just a result of being accustomed to the 9:6 ratio, more than anything else. I would be tempted to try cropping off a bit from the bottom, but really that is rather nit picky. The sky is great, and I like how the yellow flowers lead to the tree in the distance.

Very nice shot. You managed very well the multiple exposure. I like the composition a lot.

Looks great to me Cory - crop works well although a little wider wouldn't hurt either. Gotta love those beautiful clouds!! Very nicely done.

A very eye catching photo, Cory! The narrowness didn't feel right at first but I think that is simply because I'm so used to the wider aspect ratios. I feel this could grow on me, for sure. Good processing, vibrant, accurate looking colors, nice flow. I don't think there is too much sky. Must have been awesome being there.

Very nice image...wouldn't change a thing. By the way, can we start a campaign to re-name the "rule of 1/3s" to the "suggestion of 1/3s"? Too many people get hemmed in by always trying to live up to the "rule."

Very nice work.

Wonderful image, Cory. How about a crop off the bottom of the two descending branches. This works even better IMHO.

WOW! Love those clouds! I think the comp is fine, though bit more on the right might help balance the eye a bit more. Awesome stuff dude.

Interesting self crit...overall the image works very well. I just read an article on the golden ratio in composition and think this fits right in it. Love love the contour of the hillside and that light is nuts. Kudos here
