These are my favorite yard birds. I took this in my yard by bird feeder.
Aperture-Priority with tripod, 1/400 sec, F 8, ISO 200, Canon 70-300mm.
Large image available.
Thanks for looking and all C&C welcomed.

John, I like everything about this. the 'hatch is in a great position, feather detail is good, nice eye, and good BG.
The only nit , to me, is that the bird is exactly centered. Would be a much stronger image If he was in the left (or right) third, and then with more of the nice BG in the frame.. If you wanted him in the left third, you'd probably want to flip him horizontally so he was looking right.

I like the bird centered honestly. I think the image gives proper amounts of background, habitat, and an artistic pose for a bird. It's been a while since I've seen a bird exactly centered.

John, this is nice. I think your comp works here. You have good details, and it looks like you kept your whites under control even if they are a little bright.

John, to me whites are white, not grey, and you did a good job here with the exposure on the whites. They are bright white as they should be, but I still see detail. I like the texture of the tree and the nice sliver of distant BG. Nice eye contact from the bird too. Well done.

I like the detail you have here. I would try to bring down the whites on cheek and sidepocket though...they look a little hot. Composition works for me, also. Sharon

John,

I like the typical nuthatch pose you have presented, your comp and the light in the bird's eye.
