Storm Surge

This photo was made at high tide as a strong winter storm was leaving the coast of New Englad. Winds clocked as high as 94 miles per hour! The strong winds created fantastic waves. This is the Minot area of Scituate, Massachusetts. Scituate is often one of the best places to catch storm action in eastern Mass. The rocks are nearly 30 feet tall.

Looks like some serious surf Greg! Must have been incredible to see. The image looks a little soft (OOF in the foreground, lack of websharpening throughout the rest?). Without the story it's hard to tell how high those waves actually are - next time see if you can find a point of reference, such as a person, seagull, or recognizable tree to help give a sense of scale.

Good timing to catch the wave at it apex. The power of the sea is remarkable.

Great wave! A telephoto of just the point and the wave would be cool too.

Good capture and well composed. It does need some sharpening.

Great timing with the wave. I agree with John about a tighter comp with a telephoto. This vertical comp seems a little tight to me.

I like the foreground, background and wave action. It does feel a bit soft and maybe a tad underexposed.

I rather like this Greg. What makes it stand out for me is the color of the rock against the wave action as opposed to the generally darker rock so abundant along the coast. I think I'll have to meander over there one of these days, preferably during some high wind. thanks for sharing.
