Noon in the Crocus Fores

This is the large patch of crocus that was first to bloom and from which the close-ups came. More to come along with some from other patches- yellow, purple, etc.

D700, 70-200/2.8 VR at 160 mm, hand held; f 11, 1/60, ISO 200. Ground level shot.

It was so bright and sunny when I started the shoot, and this was the first image. Hopefully it thaws out some of you who are still getting snow!

Warms me up. We're supposed to get another foot of snow this weekend. :toast:

"Crocus Queen" strikes again!
Sure looking forward to all your spring flower shots.
THis is lovely - just enough in focus to draw attention, yet softly blurred for the rest. That one blade of grass right above the in-focus crocus (unintentional rhyme!) bugs me a little..

Sympathy to all those still covered in snow..

You're just cruel to be posting spring flowers in abundance like this right now.
About another 2-3 weeks for us in Denver. Just a great shot, Catherine. I like your pof and dof.

Oooo, Sandy, where's my tiara?

Morris: You've discovered my mean streak. Darn my cover is blown. Hey, but that's okay, since you'll be getting even with CO wildflowers later.

Michael: Another foot of snow? Now? Now, that's cruel!

Thanks to everyone for the comments.

Beautiful shot Catherine. Great dof choice for my tastes and the to my eye the pov makes the shot. Superb work.

Aah, a whole bad of crocus flowers, that's a theme for hours and hours for a flower photograph, isn't it so? :) I think that you perfectly captured sharp details and also achieved the evocation of the amount of these beautiful little flowers.

You're lucky to have these to photograph. I haven't been able to see if mine are even up yet - cuz they're continually getting buried under snow! Just a beautiful spring image. Great work.

Catherine: What a marvelous scene! I like this very much as is and also would consider a crop from the bottom to get rid of a bit of the undergrowth. I kind of like the blade of grass poking up and really like your POV and DOF choice. 2 thumbs up! >=))>
