Metlako. winter light

Eagle creek trail is one of the most popular in the Gorge, so this view is familiar to many. The tricky part is that there is only one 1 yard square spot on the cliff top to gain the view, so that all the shots of Metlako falls are essentially the same. But of course they're all different! For this one the back light was extreme - I needed to shade the lens with my baseball hat.

Wonderful shot, Daniel. Although a familiar scene (even to me), the light in this one is beautiful, giving a nice glow to the water mist and the surrounding foliage.

That's a nice spot and I like the angled trees back there. In favor of the center I might vignette the image a little. Especially on the left the trees look very bright.

Sweet shot! I love the backlighting and the full capture of the trees. The mist adds a big plus here too.

I love the light and all the mist here. The waterfall looks great and the leaning trees add alot to this scene. Very nice.

Love the lighted fog Daniel. Its great how you caught the highlights outlining the trees. Cool shot
The flare near the falls doesn't bother me too much but you could always clone out if it bothers ya.
Thanks for sharing

The falls almost have a painted look about them. The trees and mist with the side light really makes the image Dan; well done!

I've shot this as many times as anyone - at least fifty but probably closer to a hundred, and that's got to be as good of light as I've ever seen.

Tough light, but you pulled it off, Daniel. I could see burning the highlights on the left tree a bit more and dodging the water a bit, but this is some really nice light.

Help me out here. As I recall, Eagle Creek took me to the Punch Bowl. Is this the Punch Bowl from above? Doesn't feel quite right for that, but I'm not sure.
