Tree Sheltering Cranes

Image from near Bosque del Apache. This image represents the scene very closely as it had been snowing and a fog was forming. The tree is sheltering a few sandhill cranes from the wind and what snow was continuing to fall.

Nikon D3S with 400mm VR @f5.6, 1/320th, ISO 6400 +1EV

wonderful tree, wonderful palette here larry and a fine composition. i love those oranges. this is all rounded off well with the cranes. very good!

Thank you Stuart and Bret. I was fortunate that the snow let up enough before dark to allow me to get the image. Sure was cold.

The photo is tremendous, great subject and presentation! For the theme, while its certainly believable that the tree was isolated, the shot doesnt strongly convey a sense of isolation or loneliness. :wavey:

Stan, the tree was isolated. The image was taken in NM, almost any tree in the state is isolated. :wink:

Beautiful image! Love the color palette, the orange on the tree and the cranes. The snow and fog create a sense of tranquility, while the other, warmer colors keep the viewer from freezing to death. :wink: What a pleasure to view.
