This is in the same area in the Okefenokee as the last, at a slightly different vantage point on Minnie's Lake, shot a few frames after the previous. I decided to attempt a B&W version. It was slightly underexposed, so I brought up the exposure, contrast and shadow/hightlight in CS4, but I'm still unsettled about my processing of the conversion. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Im kind of unsettled too, Bill
Worth working on though, cause the comp is fabulous, great symmettry and subject! Hard to diagnose without seeing how you arrived here, but just from a cursory look i think the main issue is the tonal range isnt wide enough (too flat). The sky needs to be darker (red channel, maybe??) in relation to the clouds, which seem awefully bright here. I think it will also help if you can get the bg a bit sharper for web presentation--it looks muddied. Compression should not be a big issue in B&W. Keep pluggin! :wavey:

Ditto on the great comp with your leading lines. I also agree that more contrast is needed.

Overall the processing looks good and the comp works too. The reflection is really captivating.

I like the comp, but can't help wanting to see it in color.

Looks great to me Bill. I like the B&W much better than the color version. the Oke is a special place and you captured it wonderfully. Nice work!

I really enjoy the balance of this composition with the 50/50 split. I like it as presented, but this might be one of those images that could benefit from processing different areas (top and bottom) with a different B&W filter. Nice work!

A beautiful shot of a beautiful area, and it looks great in B&W. I'm on an uncalibrated monitor, but the conversion looks good to me.
