Sequoia trunks and beams

During my California trip last May, I was fortunate to get good lighting conditions several times in Sequoia NP. This scene developed on my last morning in the park, the nearby trees still in shadow while sun was already hitting the trees in the gap between them. Fortunately, the b&w film's great exposure latitude allowed an effective exposure without losing highlight or shadow detail.

Danny,

A beautiful composition. I can stare at it for hours. That background is ethereal.

Danny this is totally awesome. I especially like the two smaller trees framed between the big ones.

This is wonderful Danny. You've managed to capture the scale of these giants very well; the BG lighting is fantastic also. Excellent work.

Great comp light and range of tones. I have to say this is the best I've seen from you on this site, Danny. Thanks for posting!

Hi Danny!

I like how you manage to capture the essence of sequoia forest without the photo to become too crowded.

Good light

Thanks for all the kind comments!

Jerry - no, I don't develop my own Acros. With scanning and PS work, I've not seen a need for special push/pull processing, and quite honestly don't have time for it anyway, so I take b&w to the same lab that does all of my E6 work.

Dale - yes, actually I do have some color stuff too, and will post some of it when I eventually get around to more scanning work!
