Common Tern, on the Farne Islands(Inner Farne), Northumberland UK. When you enter the island you get quite close to their nests and they show their displeasure.

Canon 20D 100 - 400 zoom, f9, 1/2000sec ISO200

Very graceful pose!
I'd like to see much more room in front of the bird, and the underside and lega lightened a bit.
It would also be great if you could get more detail in the eye.

Ron,

It is a graceful pose and the water in the background is appealing.

I would like to see more space in front of the tern, the comp feels tight to me.

This must have been an exposure challenge with the bright light above the bird. I would like to see the underside of the bird brightened some, but I am not sure the image can take it. I can already detect some color noise in the chest of the tern and the underside of the back wing in the larger version, Brightening more would probably increase that.

Ron, I like this pose a lot--a very graceful tern. I agree that the comp is rather tight in front, and it would be nice to get more detail in the eye.

A very attractive little bird. I love the posture, though the light direction is not optimum.

Lovely pose and a difficult exposure to deal with. I also notice this tern is banded.
