Slumpin' Darkly

Hi all.

I still feel neck deep in my current slump. I went to the florist the other day though and found a dark gerbera. I love shooting dark flowers, so I have tried to find some inspiration.

I got a few that I liked, and this was one of them.

Any and all thoughts appreciated.

Great comp, superb light, subtle interesting textures and painterly lines. Exceptional work for my tastes Nathan. With slumps like this...

Gorgeous work - good to see you back.

I think this is one of your coolest shots ever! Could be draperies… Could be a blanket… Could be a heavy shawl or scarf. It's so warm and soft and wonderful. I love it, Nathan. You're working hard, and it's paying off. :toast:

I love all the colors that are in this-even if it seems on first glance to be a red flower. Looks like a curtain. DOF has allowed almost every point to be in perfect focus. Lovely work.

Hey Nathan, I had been wondering where you were. Bummer about the slump. Give yourself all the time you need. As for the image, I think its great. Really liking the deep, rich color and the sweeping diagonal lines that diverge in different directions about 2/3 of the way down.

The understated lighting is intriquing and powerful in this one, Nathan. Another post with deep and rich color. Marvelous.

A study in royal reds. The free flowing form of it all keeps my interest throughout the image.

Thanks Nathan, this photo make me feel back home. You really have a special feeling for discovering beautiful designs hidden among the petals of the flowers.
Cheers.

Reminds me of the old theatre houses with their rich curtains and draped fabrics. Wonderful rich colors and lines.
