American Tree Sparrow

The best ID I can find on this sparrow is an American Tree Sparrow. It has the same markings as the picture in the field guide, including the "stickpin" on the chest. I would like it on a better perch but this is the best shot I got while it sat on the top of the bird feeder.
AV Priority with tripod, 1/400 sec, F7.1, ex comp -1/3, ISO 100, Canon 70-300mm @300mm, cropped approx 40-50%.
Large image included.
Thanks for looking and C&C welcomed.

A pretty bird with good colors in your image. Nice and sharp. I like the definition of the bird and the BG. Bird feeders are tough and I can't ever decide how to level them, but I would probably level the dark edge of the feeder. Without trying it though I can't tell if you would lose the tip of the tail. I would crop the left to the area where the dark and light meet at the bottom-to get him out of the center.

Definitely a Tree Sparrow there John. A nice backyard bird to get with a sweet song.
Hope you manage one on a nice perch.

John,

I love the light on the bird's face and how the head is tilted up ever so slightly. I also like the great view of the feet.

What a modest but pretty little bird. I think this is a great perch; I like the level angle of view and I too like the feet. I agree with Angela that a small crop off the left would make the image even better. Good shot!
