Half Dome

Everyone has one of these in their portfolio, now I have mine. This was from the Ahawahnee Meadow a few days after the really big storm had blown itself eastward.

No cropping and very little PP done to the image - I'm particularly interested in composition comments as well as is there too much polarizer.

D300, Nikkor 18-22 AF-S DX VR lens, f25 at 1/30, tripod and polarizer

Certainly nothing new but as you said it's a must for your portfolio. You've done a nice job here. Next time I'd go back when there is a fierce storm raging

Dan,

This is a very nice take away from Yosemite. The composition is solid and I like all the elements playing together, especially the clouds and also the shadows across the snowy meadow. exposure looks great. You're entering the beautiful time in the valley with this capture.

Dan,

Glad you had a chance to put the feather in the cap so to speak. Looks good to me..........some people might have thousands of this shot in there portfolio..
This one is better than 98% of mine
I don't think the polarizer effect is too much. The the cliffs have retained about the right tonal range.....to much and the turn funky colors and get real flat...back to the 98%.
I think you may be seeing some diffraction on the arches there on the left f25?
Comp wise looks good to me the dark tree on the edge I would maybe add or not add it leads off the frame a little.
Great shot, good light , works for me. As you said lots of versions of this one but needs to be done

Thanks for sharing
Jay

This is a very beautiful rendition of this scene. I would be very happy to have a shot like this.

Very nicely done. The polarization seems fine to me. As far as composition, this works, but my eye is drawn to the stand of bare trees in the lower part of the frame and a vertical shot that included just Half Dome and those trees may have been very appealing as well.
