You've presented these chunks of ice in a really elegant manner. Very nice shot.

Ben - Thanks. I don't know if I could claim elegance is what I was "going for" when I made the image, but I was really hoping this photo would show these bergs as having that attribute. So, I appreciate your specific choice of words. I see some of these ice chunks as giant, temporary gemstones.

very nice - i wonder about the scale here? the glimmers of light filtering through "the gemstones" are very enticing.

The light is lovely here and the compositing works well too. I could go with a little less magenta here.

Very beautiful Kent! The composition made me wonder if this was a close-up of smaller ice or truly large ones. Great. Favorite spot is near the LRC with the smooth surfaces and color.

The scale of objects in this photo is understandably mysterious. Unless you're someone who is familiar with the pattern of structures within the ice (mostly in the nearest block), there's really nothing to base a size judgment on. The truth is that smallest block of ice (the one in the middle) is about the size of a small microwave. I don't think an understanding of the scale is important for the appreciation of the photo; It's just extra information for the interested.

Love the icy tones and the interaction between highlights and shadows. Well balanced composition also.

The rim lighting on the ice really helps the shapes stand out, very nice Kent. Choosing a white balance for a shot like this must be tough. I like how you've presented it, but I imagine it could look nice with a little more blue/less magenta too?

Love the light here. The glowing edges really stand out. Very neatly composed frame. Might agree with Floris on reducing magenta.

I really like the composition and texture of the ice, this is a great image. My personal preference would be to have less magenta in the highlights.

Several comments make reference to the magenta in this photo, and (hopefully without coming across as defensive) I would like to question why. To me the very subtle magenta (because it's really never much more than a tint) is an excellent visual complement to the blue that provides some variation without creating a stark contrast. In fact, I would assert that the feeling of magenta in the highlights is largely due to the surrounding heavy, deeper blues. It's precisely the same effect that the physical location actually has on the senses, so I like to portray it in the image. Standing between two walls of the glacier, the open sky above exhibits a substantial magenta shift to the human eye. Light on the ice is coming from a darkening clear blue sky overhead, but the highlights are receiving mostly a warm backlight from the post sunset horizon. There's some background. What's the advantage of less magenta?

This works extrememly well for me! I figured the ice chunks were kind of big. I like the frosted, almost powdery texture. The color looks great to me, and I imagine I would like it just as well if it were more blue. But no need to change it, as I see it.
