My first visit of the year and they are already under way. These GBH are so fun to watch with the interaction and joyful expressions from the arrival of there mate. I love how the breeding plumage explodes like this.

Cheryl, great interaction between these two. The exposure looks good as does the sharpness. If this were mine I might try a verticle crop to really emph the birds and deemph the brazillian pepper. Overall, great shot.

Cheryl, I've been looking forward to seeing your images from the new birding season. I love the crazy feathers on these two. I agree with the vertical crop suggestion and would love to see how that works out.

A very good capture of the courtship behavior, and an interesting perch. Good techs, too. I agree with Ron's suggestion of a vertical composition.

I knew there would be a vert. crop suggestion and I tried it. The reason I went against it was because I felt the front branch was distracting and the rest of the branches with the horizontal crop seemed to balance that out better. Ill try again and post soon

Cheryl, even without the title I immediately recognized the location. I'm guessing that when I get there in March, this and other pairs will have youngsters testing their wings.

Great interaction here.
A vertical crop might work well too.

Cheryl

I love the interaction between the two heron's the flared plumes and the great view of the blue lores this species develops during breeding season. I also love the beautiful sky in the background.

Agree with the suggestion for a vertical comp.

This species is very animated during courtship and you captured that very nicely.

At the risk of sounding like an echo, love the interaction and I too would try a vertical crop.

I'm in a minority here Cheryl as I rather like the crop showing more of the habitat. You've captured a nice moment, I've never actually experienced this behaviour in our Herons so I will have to open my eyes as I walk around in future. Lovely detail and poses I like this a lot. Graham

Wonderful capture! It’s too bad the tree branch partially blocks the bird on the left.

I like this very much Cheryl. The interaction, the setting and the subtle cloud striations in the background especially appeal to me. I even like the vegetation in front of the bird on the left. This crop works just fine for me. A lovely image IMO.
