Early morning with fog. Not the best conditions for pictures, but you go with what you have. Still lots of fun! Hope that you enjoy and please comment. Thanks for looking.

Beautiful Jack! I actually like the foggy mood quite a bit. Great comp, and I like their expressions. My one thought is that noise reduction would probably help. Thanks for sharing!

The bg behind the stags could certainly use some NR. The pose and mood is great. A tough shot at ISO 1600. If that is an IS lens you have, you might have been able to get away with less ISO.

I hope you don't mind the comparison, but this photo reminds me of some of the wildlife paintings out of Europe. It just to me has a certain wildness flair. Really nice photo IMHO.

I don't think the fog detracts at all. This is a beautiful composition. The noise is noticeable in the large version but it doesn't kill the photo for me.

I love the painterly effect created by the fog and the inclusion of the habitat here Jack, as well as the two-headed buck  . I do find the LBC a bit distracting. Not much you could have done about that, but I just wish it were similar to the RBC in texture and color.

Repost is much improved. I too love the fog. Nice poses for the bucks just wish they were somewhat more separated. I really like the environment.

Hi Jack,

Overall a solid shot, and most of my "nits" with the image are related to (i.e., derivatives of) the ISO at which it was shot. I prefer the re-post - I did find the noise in the background and on the side of the elk detracted from the original shot, especially on the larger version. I like the placement of the elk in the frame and the foggy look works for me. My personal preference would be for the entire foreground to be in focus. I don't know if this would be possible without producing even more noise, but extracting a little more shadow detail out of the neck region (and thus lowering the overall contrast of the elk) would likely enhance the image.

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...
