Lenticular Over Seattle

Hello everyone ! Well I have to say this by far was the strangest thing that has to me while photographing. While teaching a workshop we figured that we practice some in the field stuff so we decided to head downtown Seattle. As the sun set the color was not bad but died off quick and got dark within a very short time with exposure time of over 30 seconds. Just as we finshed for the night the clouds lit up within a matter of seconds and I have never seen color like this as well as having a lenticular cloud above the city - Holy Wow W!! Anyways, it was so strong it was blowing out my reds and expoosure time was back down to a few seconds again.

Craaaaaaazy! Great colour, flow and depth to this image Kevin. It would be cool to see this as a huge print... so much detail. Great work as always!

Really amazing Wow color! Great detail. Another interesting observation is the almost deserted highways; is the traffic usually so light in Seattle?

Awesome light and colours. I like how the cloud and road patterns seem complementary.

Thank you for the comments.
Gary - it is funny as I did not think so much about it but now that you mention it is kind of weird to see so little traffic !

One of the best pictures of Seattle that I've ever seen. Very cool.
What was your shutter speed? Maybe the traffic just blurred enough that you can't see it.....
Nice!

I like this Kevin. Really great sky and color. I think farther down the road you can see the streaks of red from tail lights in the 2 right lanes and the headlights in the left lanes. Really cool shot.

Wow! Makes me want to move to Seattle. The color and unusual lenticular cloud is amazing, and you composed this perfectly. Excellent!

Pretty cool shot, Kevin... and amazing light. The colors look great here. Is it just me, or could this go for a slight ccw rotation? All the buildings are leaning to the right a bit. Great shot none the less.

Totally amazing light and color, Kevin. I love the warm glow in this cityscape. This is very minor; and it may be just me; but this appears to have a slight CW tilt.

Whoa! is right!! That's incredible, Kevin. One of the best shots of Seattle. You lucky!

The larger view shows some sharpening halos, but man, the detail and color in this is so spectacular! It's got all the good Seattle stuff, too: ships in the bay, Smith Tower among others, light streams from I-5 traffic. Whoa!
