Misty Morning

Hello everybody! This is my first post for NPN. I love misty and moody pictures. This photo was taken at the river Danube winding in the west part of Hungary. A dark, misty dawn was followed by a foggy, shiny morning.
The sun was enlarged a bit..

EOS 20D
Sigma 17-70/2,8
GND filter

Thank you for every comment.

Fresh, different, clean and no caffeine. Excellent. Looks like a painting. Subtly beautiful....Joe.

Welcome Istvan,
The photo is beautiful, as a minor comment, i'd crop the lower and the left part of the photo a bit.
Incredible moment.

Very nice and moody shot. This might also look nice in B/W.

I love a good fog picture and this is definitely one. Normally I'd probably convert this to B&W but I really like the deep green of the bushes surrounded by the "B&W" sky and water. Nice job.

Istvan,

Welcome to NPN and the ES&S Gallery! Glad to have you here. You should find lots of helpful and courteous folks here.

If you love misty and moody images, you most certainly captured one here! This has great mood and atmosphere. I even like the central placement of the sun as it hovers over the scene casting it's rays of life...

You mentioned enlarging the sun. I wouldn't have guessed that, but it did bring attention to that and to me it looks like a pretty rough selection and replacement. In other words, there isn't a smooth transition between the area immediately around the sun and the surrounding fog. Perhaps resizing and jpg compression could be making this more visible, but if this were mine I would consider reworking the sun replacement. BTW - thanks for disclosing that.

So welcome aboard. We look forward to more images from you and for your participation.

Hi, István :wavey:

I like this image. If there is a middle ground between black and white and color, this is it. I like how you straddled the two. Wonderful geometry of shapes here with nice tonal gradation. This is fun and easy to look at.

Thats a cracking atmospheric shot Istvan. I might be tempted to try and soften out the digital halo around the misted sun a touch as it will add to the purity and tonal smoothness of the image. I love the restricted colour palette
