Welcome to NPN Srinivasan . This is a very nice first post. I like the inclusion of the green background above the Shrike, but I would like to see more room underneath him and a bit more cropped off the top, as he is quite small in the frame.
The open beak is great !

Really cool image, Srinivasan. I might have considered remo9ving some of the empty space, but that's just my taste.

Very interesting behavior Srinivasan and welcome to NPN Avian. I've tried to capture this process several times in other species and always failed. I think I'd consider a different composition if you've got the room in the image. The bird is just too close to the bottom of the frame for my tastes.

Srinivasan,
Welcome to NPN, it is a wonderful place to learn, to get and give critiques and to grow as a photographer.
Very interesting action in your image and I like the colors in the background. I think more space on the bottom, less on the top and right would make for a stronger composition.
I like how you were able to show some of the rufous on the tail.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Thanks Guys for the comment. I agree.
I left the open space to show the relative sizes - the overall frame, open space, the bird and the object in the mouth.
Thanks again for the suggestions.
