Neon Skimmer

Black Skimmers feed by flying low over the water and skimming their lower beak in the water, snapping up small fish. It's cool to see. They do it in the low light of twilight, so it's hard to photograph. This picture was under-exposed and a litle soft, so I fiddled with it in PhotoShop, using the neon glow filter mostly.

Buck, Very cool effect. I agree w/ Cindy regarding the skim line. Nicely done!

Very cool. Reminds me of Sabattier (solarized) technique. I like the reflection.

Buck,
Fun!... I've tried to shoot these cool guys myself, but lacking the ISO capacities of a D3, I've just been content to watch. It's always a wonder how these birds do this in such shallow water.

Remember;... always use photoshop for good, not for evil. :wavey:

The filter suits your subject well. I'm glad you jumped in and posted here... it is wonderful when you find a filter that enhances an already well composed image. Welcome and I look forward to future posts.

The neon glow makes for a fine emphasis of the lines here. Nice work.
