Sapphire Lake II

by Doug Roane

Gallery: LandscapePosted January 2, 2010204 views11 comments
Taken the next morning after my recent post on ESS (even the same driftwood, in another direction). From a backpacking trip in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, MT, 8/09.

Canon 40D. Sigma 10-20 @ 10 mm. ISO 100. f/16. 4 exposures blended manually.

C&C and thoughts on processing appreciated. See LARGER VERSION for best detail.

I love this! I love the color of the clouds, the reflection in the water and the details in the forground. Beautiful!!

A little dark, but the comp is as strong as something from David Meunch. Two halves equal in the possibility of a photo on their own.

Doug. I really like the sky colors here. I initially thought it was a little dark, but after viewing the larger version, I think it looks great. Well done. - Scott

Wow - great exposure, comp is very strong, interesting from top to bottom. With all of the lake reflection shots posted on this website, this one really stands out to me.

Very moody, everything seems suspended in time... A bit dark, but the darkness is part of the story I feel...
Beautiful and strong image!

Outstanding image Doug. Really like how the curve of the foreground driftwood directs the eye to those wonderful clouds and reflection. Beautiful work.
