We are fortunate to have some Cedar Waxwings staying around our place during the winter. This is a slight crop for comp. I did some selective sharpening on the head. Please check out the larger version.

F/7.1
1/640 second
ISO 200
D50 with Sigma 150-500mm at 290mm.

C&C appreciated.

Raymond

Great bird and setting. Wing detail is excellent, but the head is still a little soft.

A lovely pose and I like the berries included. Looks like a tad of motion blur in the head, but looks better in the larger version. Sharon

Love the look of the cedar waxwing. You've done a nice job getting him in focus, and his perch couldn't be better. Well done! :toast:

A very pretty photo with nice light and bold colours. A shame the face isn't as sharp as the rest of the bird.
I think your focus-point/s homed in on the area around the lower berries and up to the waxwings shoulder.

Raymond,

The colors in the bird, berries and background are wonderfully suited to each other and I love the tilt of the bird's head and the light in its eye.

The head does appear softer than the rest of the bird and I suspect that was caused by movent of the bird.

I think this would make a strong vertical composition.

One thing in particular delights me in this image, capturing fine feather detail in this species is challenging and difficult, but you have accomplished that very well. I hope you have other images of this bird where the head wasn't moving and have that great detail.

very nice pose and setting with some nice plumage detail as well. the head does still look a little soft, but it's a very good looking shot nonetheless.

Raymond, very very nice shot. The slight softness of the head means that he moved his head a little I think. Nice berries and sky color too.

Nice composition, Ray. The head does look a trifle soft, but the body looks fine. It must have been an odd angle. :toast:
