After the recent lichen post of Marcs, I remembered this one that I took in the "Gradental" back in October. It shows the weird things that nature can create.
Unfortunately this one has some sharpening flaws in the corners as I underestimated the DOF problems when I shot with my 70-200mm. Otherwise this would be a nice print. All you 4x5 photographers out there would have had a blast with this one.
Canon 5DMII, Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS, Polarizer, Tripod.

I've posted a "Best of 2009"-video on Youtube. If you want, check it out ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8BKIV3XrU4&fmt=22

Have a great 2010 everybody. I'm already looking forward to the great images that you will post here.

Really beautiful, Andreas. I surely appreciate your ability to find such a pleasing pattern and color in this image.

Hi Andreas - I have one that look *very* similar....
I like the comp. you found here a lot. The red patches add a lot of interest and they are distributed nicely in this ensemble.
Cool idea with that you-tube vid!

Hey Andreas,
Very cool find! I really like the colors and patterns and I could live with the sharpness falloff.

I'm glad you remembered about it. It's quite stunning, Andreas! The reds/oranges and the light blue of the cracks come together in a subtle, but very effective manner. Just a thought here, but a more daring, contrasty version might be worth trying. The youtube presentation is fascinating as your very natural and perfectly processed images have been a great inspiration for me. Looking forward in seeing your works in 2010!

Aside from the softness, this is really cool! Love the colors. Not sure about that one green spot, it does pull my eye there. Happy 2010! :wavey:

This is neat and keeps your eye exploring the small wonders throughout. Has a sort of cracked like skin appearance to it. Might be good as a square crop, but not sure.
Have a great 2010 Andreas :toast:

Very nice texture and color. I do wish the green spot was not part of the composition though. It seems to distract from the wonderful color and texture in the rest of the shot.

Great lines, colors, textures. To me this seems almost as though it could have been taken from high up in a plane. The tiny green thing being the top of a tree. maybe it's just me...

I really like the colors, maybe crop to square to eliminate soft areas?

Really beautiful patterns, textures and colours Andreas!. I like Morris's idea of a square crop, that would certainly eliminate any softness at the corners.

Thanks for all your advice. I've created a square crop - I like it as well. Because of the merciless JPG compression here's just a small version - you can see a bigger one here ... http://www.andreasresch.at/upload/images/_MG_0398_V2_720px.jpg

waaay too cool this patterns and forms. Like the original best. More to explore, maybe the crop was a bit excessive IMO, just a thought. Cheers!
