This guy was not hard to capture. I hung a feeder outside my picture window, and for a week kept my camera mounted on a tripod and focused on this spot with a Sigma 80-400 mm. I discovered that these humming birds were pretty fearless, so I walked outside with my Sigma 105 macro mounted on my camera and hand held about two feet away for this shot.
Not a huge challenge, but a lot of fun.

I like the motion blur in the wings and tail Roger, I´d give it a little more room on the left if you have it. :toast:

Ideally, I'd give this more space in front of the bird, but that would include the feeder. One photographer friend suggested setting out a variety of flowers on a table, setting up the tripod and shooting as they darted in and out. Perhaps cheating a bit, but he's gotten some great stuff that way.

I wouldn´t consider it cheating at all. I´m down here in Ecuador using setups for hummingbirds with flowers.

a nice mix of sharpness and motion blur, with the sharpness where it matters. I'd also like a little more room on the left.

The hummer shot that is not a set-up in one way or another is a rare thing.

Roger,

I love the colors in this image, the bit of motion blur in the wings and the nice details in the neck & head.

You may want to try upping your ISO to between 320 and 400 to get a faster shutter speed when shooting hummingbirds.

Love the greens in this image.
